How AI is changing my workflow
AI is no longer a futuristic fantasy—it’s already integrated into our workflows in ways we might not even realize. As a design engineer, I’ve started relying on AI tools to automate tedious tasks, speed up decision-making, and even enhance creativity.
Where AI Helps Me the Most
1. Design Exploration:
• Tools like Galileo AI and Figma’s AI features allow me to generate UI ideas instantly.
• I can prototype variations of a component faster without manual tweaks.
2. Code Assistance:
• GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT significantly speed up my frontend development by suggesting optimized code.
• They help refactor code, debug errors, and even recommend best practices.
3. Performance & Accessibility Testing:
• AI-powered tools like Axe for accessibility audits and Lighthouse for performance testing ensure the products I build are fast and user-friendly.
• Automating these checks allows me to focus on building, rather than manually debugging common issues.
The Future of AI in Design & Engineering
We’re still in the early days of AI-powered workflows. In the near future, I expect AI to handle more complex UI logic, predict design trends based on user behavior, and even generate full-fledged frontends based on written descriptions.
However, AI won’t replace designers or engineers—it will simply augment our creativity and efficiency. The real challenge is knowing when to trust AI and when to rely on human intuition.
AI is rapidly transforming how we work, but the key to using it effectively is understanding its strengths and weaknesses. The best workflows will combine human creativity with AI-powered automation to build better products, faster.
